A certain 'fatigue' was emerging within the group for the final day of our Dubaï tour. It must be said that in 10 days, moreover to have been extremely well received by the majority of hotels that we visited, we have been impressed by their magnificence. Could we be still surprised? It must be recognized that yes.
Few hotels in the world can boast of having rooms with a unique view of Mall Emirates’ ski runs from the living room and on a swimming pool from the bedroom, in the middle of the desert. Did you dream about it? The Emiratis did it!
Effectively, Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates is the world's third largest indoor ski resort with one of the world's longest indoor ski slopes and the biggest covered snow park.
Ideally situated on Sheikh Zayed Road, at the crossroads of New Dubai, the Marina district and Jumeirah beach, Kempinski Mall of the Emirates also links to Majid Al Futtaim’s signature mall of the same name. It is one of the biggest shopping mall outside North America, the truly unique five star deluxe hotel is set to be a destination in itself offering a complete leisure experience with state-of-the-art health club, Ayurveda wellness centre, swimming pool and tennis court.
Majid Al Futtaim is known for partnering with some of the most established hotel groups, often strategically positioned next to its malls. The Kempinski Mall of the Emirates is no exception. Comparing client service and management between Dubai and Europe, Arjun Jayaram thinks in Dubai they work as hoteliers and in Europe we work as financiers.
To serve clients, the Kempinski Mall Emirates has some 450 employees of 50 nationalities (Majority Indians people).
Prices, revenue and segmentation
A double room costs about 550$, a suite 750$, a ski Chalet with butler 5500$, and the presidential suite 7000$
As apparently all hotels in Dubai, customers come mainly from The GCC, then African, European and Russian Market, even if the Russian crisis has been deeply affecting a part of their revenue.
Segmentation is 60% leisure & 40% corporate.
The occupancy rate is 85% and the ADR 1200$.
Innovation
Ipads had been installed in all rooms. Guests can book services or a delicious dinner in advance.
And all rooms are connected to the housekeeping service with a bell to inform the cleaning staff that the room needs cleaning.
The future
In the Middle East, a hotel is considered to be an old establishment after one year. So, the Kempinski Mall Emirates will launch an important renovation policy.
We are a part of this future
We would like to thank the university of Cergy Pontoise for organizing this trip.
